Winnaar NCC 1951

Going back all the way to 1951, when most of us were not alive yet but bartenders from all over the world already had the same passion as we do now for mixing wonderfull drinks. And as we do now, they started to get united!

1951 is the historically important year that the International Bartenders Association (IBA) was founded, in the UK. So 2 years after founding the NBC, bartenders started thinking bigger and went global to join forces. This was done by 7 bartendersclubs; the Dutch NBC, the English UKBG, the Swedish SBG, the Italian AIBES, the Danish DBL, the French ABF and the Swiss SBU. With the intention to get all bartenders around the world to join together.

So while the United Nations moved in to their new headoffice in Manhattan NY that year, bartenders also started to get united.

Meanwhile in The Netherlands we were moving on with our yearly National Cocktail Competition (NCC), the 2nd one by then. The winner was Johnie Bax from Groningen with his cocktail Wondernight.

The recipe and more details from 1951 you can find in the pictures, courtesy of the NBC archive.
