1988
Throwback to 1988
This years Chess world titel is one to remember.
The longest and most expensive title match in the history of the World Chess Championship is broken up in a tie and canceled after more than five months and 48 games played, of which 40 ended in a draw. Challenger Gari Kasparov is furious at the illegal intervention, which indicates protection for defending champion Anatoli Karpov: the latter led 5-3 first, but saw both the 47th and 48th matches lost and appeared beaten. The games are canceled and nobody wins!
Due to the growing members of the NBC the national cocktail and longdrink competition are split up and not held on the same day anymore
In that Spring Jaap van Worcum wins his first out of three National Cocktail Championships with a striking beautiful cocktail named Tenderness.
In that Autumn at Huis ter Duin Krimo Lamrani wins with his longdrink Salim.
Also a new event takes place, the first non-alcoholic competition is held and won by Peter Jansen with cocktail New Generation and if you think it's a trend now, the NBC invented it in 1988.
