The Dutch name 'Merel' is not only a medium-sized songbird, but also the name of the winning longdrink in our national competition in 1968. Gerard Laanen won the Dutch Championship for the 3rd time. A record that would hold for years to come. Gerard worked at the illustrious Savoy Club in The Hague. The place to be at that time!
Merel
40 ml White Horse Scotch whisky
20 ml De Kuyper Pimpeltjens liquor
Juice of a half lemon
1 ds Grenadine (mathieuteisseire_nl)
Shake and and strain in a highball glass filled with ice from Hoshizaki Benelux and top up with sprite (we prefer London Essence Lemonade)
